Did your consultant tell you that once you can pay your university fees by earning part-time?
The simple answer is NO, you cannot earn your fees by doing part-time jobs.
Thousands of students are suffering every day of their life trying to earn money to pay university fees. 90% of students are working illegally and cannot attend a single lecture of their studies. They are paying hard-earned cash to freelancers to get their assignments done.
Consultants don’t tell them that they can’t pay the fees while working part-time. You have to think about yourself before coming to the UK; otherwise, your life will be working 14 hours a day and paying college fees, rents, and food expenses for four years. You will not be able to learn anything because you haven’t attended any lectures, and once you complete your graduation, you will be living a hard life again by doing low lay jobs. Once your Post Study Work Permit ends, you will have to go back to your Home Country.
Many students opted to live illegally. Before making this decision, you need to think you cannot go home if there is some emergency. You will not be able to get NHS benefits if you get sick. You will be in fear all your day while working illegally. So think before you make this decision.
What is placement year?
Most consultants don’t tell you when you apply for Placement year that it will be canceled if you don’t secure a job in your profession. It’s not like you can work in any store and get a placement year. Suppose you didn’t get any placement in your field, then Home Office will cancel your Visa, and you will have to apply for Post Study Work Permit. Even if you secure a job in your profession, there are so many complications. It ultimately depends upon the university whether they will give you one year visa or send a request to the Home office to cancel it. There is nothing like the ON Campus placement thing in the UK.
Did your agent ever mention about NI number?
Agents don’t even bother to tell the students what they need to apply for a job. Every employer requires a national insurance number to set the TAX Slab you are going to be working. So once you get your BRP, the next thing you have to do is apply for an NI number. Earlier, it took 4-6 weeks to get the NI, but it is taking 6-8 months post covid. So you won’t be able to work in an organization without the NI number. You can find more information on the Government website.
Don’t trust blindly on consultant while Choosing a University
Most of the consultants will recommend the low-ranking universities where they get more commission from your fees. So you will have to do your research before applying to the university. Some of the universities are outside of cities where you won’t get part-time jobs quickly. Always ask your consultant why this university? Don’t indulge in the word from the agent as you can always check the admission requirement on the University website.

Do you know your consultant gets a commission if you enroll in university accommodation?
Wherever there is an involvement with the money, agents are going to dip in. They will push you to go towards student accommodation as some of the universities pay commission to consultants; if any student is admitted through them, they will pay them commissions from the money paid by you.
I have seen many students paying hundreds of pounds and complaining about the infrastructure, heating, toilets, etc. The major problem is that they can’t even shift as they have yearly contracts.
There are many websites where you can choose shared accommodation which would be cheap and best. I have personally used Spareroom and was quite happy with the services.
Always try one monthly contract initially, so if you find anything wrong, you have a chance to move to another accommodation.
