Thousands of people are applying for jobs and struggling to get a single job interview in the UK. I have experienced this myself. I applied for 200+ jobs per day when I came to the UK. It’s a nightmare when you apply for many jobs’ day and night. Below are some of the responses I received after applying for hundreds of jobs every day.
a) Sadly, on this occasion, other applicants appeared to be a better ‘fit” in terms of desired experience than you have
b) Sorry, this application is already filled
c) You are overqualified
d) You don’t have a Driving Licence
e) You won’t get any feedback at all
f) The role is currently on hold, and we will get back to you soon(They will never get back to you)
I know it is very stressful after applying for so many jobs and getting nothing back apart from rejections. I can understand as I was there, but I did make it, and I believe you will make it. I have tried to write what I have done to get your dream role interview.
I am 99% sure if you try the below tips, you will have 40-50% interviews of the total jobs you will apply for.
1) Have you tried to amend your CV?
Yes, you must get your CV updated if you want to get an interview. I will suggest getting a professional to edit your CV, and it won’t cost a bomb. You can quickly get your CV fixed in £10-20(1-2k INR). Here is the link with many options.

2) Why do you need Cover Letter to the job interview in the UK?
In the UK, most employers look for a cover letter before they check your CV. So, if you haven’t made your cover letter, then you should make it right away. Now you must be wondering what you should write on a cover letter? So, your cover letter should be brief about your professional experience. I will suggest you write your cover letter yourself. I am sharing a link from where you can learn how to make a cover letter. If it doens’t help than let me know in the comment section I will share you mine.
3) How to find a job posting?
90% of people try to look for vacancies on job portals such as Reed, Indeed, Totaljobs, etc. Looking for a job on these job portals is like looking for a needle in an ocean. There are hundreds of people applying for jobs on these websites but not getting a single interview. I want to give you an example of a job posting with more than 100 applicants(below picture). Most employers use ATS (Application Tracking System). This software filters all these CV and display result as per keywords inserted by the employer. So, an employer will have only 5-10% of CV with them.
So here is the simple way to get the job interview in the UK
We are going step by step if you are looking for an HR, IT, or Admin jobs. Search on Google Top 100 Law Firms in London. It’s just one domain we are talking about, and you can imagine there are thousands of jobs and so many people are doing it in the wrong way. You can search for Finance, Property Consultant, etc., in place of Law Firm to get more opportunities.
Just click on the first link, and it will take you to the name of all the law firm’s Listing.
So, in the above picture, you can see the names of all law firms. Now, you have to type the company’s name into Google Bar, Attaching the word “Career.”
Let’s take an example for Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer Law firm. You will see there are more than 50+ openings in a single company.
You must make sure to apply directly through companies only. It’s the best way to get interviews. I know it will be time-consuming as we have a habit of applying for jobs with a click on our phones, but I believe it will be worth it when you receive so many responses from employers.
So here is another way which I tried and worked pretty well for me.
If you don’t have a LinkedIn profile, you are missing some of the best jobs in the industry. Once you have created your profile on LinkedIn, you need to improve your profile. You can check out this link to have a better idea.
Now is the time to find the best recruiter’s who can help you get an interview in your dream.
Initially, I had a terrible experience with recruiters, and I thought all the recruiters were the same. The mistake I made initially was connecting with the big recruiting companies and expecting to receive a response from them. It was the same experience when you applied for jobs over big job portals(no response). I won’t name the companies, but you should connect with the small companies.
I have met a lot of good recruiters who will spend time listening to you. They will understand your experience, strong points and weak points. If you are looking for jobs in the Digital Sector(SEO Focused), I suggest you connect with Clockwork Talent.
Natasha is the founder of this firm, and she is one of the best recruiters I have met.
Suppose you are looking for an entry-level or graduate role in the digital sector like SEO, Data Analyst, PPC, etc. In that case, I will suggest you connect with Andrea. There are always tons of opportunities for graduates in the Digital Sector with her.
If you are looking to start your career in Recruitment. Ruth is the best person to connect with. She has a fantastic team who can assist you in getting interviews all over the UK.
I would love to answer all your problems and answer my best in the comments section as there are many other ways to get job interviews, so I will keep updating this page for all of you.
